CARE OF HANDCAST PAPER/MIXED MEDIA ART
UNFRAMED
I sometimes exhibit my handcast paper art without a frame to accentuate the deckle edges and eliminate the rectangle around the freeform shape of the art. Textures and surface treatments can be enjoyed directly without looking through glass or plexi. I spray the finished art with multiple coats of clear acrylic and reinforce the paper from the back with additional acrylic and a hanging device. To care for the art, one simply needs to go over the surface lightly with a feather duster as needed.
FRAMED
Occasionally a small piece of a deckle or other fiber fragment falls into the bottom of the frame. To correct this, turn the frame upside down and allow the bits to be captured behind the art.
